Meet The Leader of The New Wave
Charleston, S.C— Walter Brown has seen his fair share of trials and tribulations in his 25 years of lifer, however, his artistry has been inspired and empowered by what this Mt. Pleasant, SC native calls “rock bottom.” He dropped out of high school in the 11th grade, and later served a five year prison sentence—a story he shared on his debut album.
Concrete Rose, released in 2016, invited hip-hop listeners to travel with Walter on a dark journey throughout the Edmund Jenkins Projects in Mt. Pleasant, to the concrete cells of prison. The stories of Concrete Rose have been told at the Charleston Music Hall, The Purple Buffalo, Pure Theater, Mynt, and to readers of the Charleston City Paper.
And while he secures his place within the hip-hop culture, he continues to celebrate his freedom, growth, and transformation. Unlike Concrete Rose, Brown’s Saturdaze Lp (released in June 2017) is a story of triumph, good vibes, positivity, and appreciation to his fan base. Videos for the singles 2Rad & #Blessed were featured on hiphopweekly.com & Brown is no stranger to publication either. In October of 2016 Brown graced the cover of The Charleston City Paper for his Album Release party, and there have been numerous write ups on the artist & his Saturdaze Lp featured in The Charlestpn City Paper, Charleston Chronicle, Holycitysinner.com , and on the nationally recognized hip-hop blog hiphopondeck.com
Together Walter and FTU introduced a new vibrant sound to the music scene and cemented his spot as one of the top recording artist in South Carolina. What started off as a mixtape, is now a fifteen-track hip-hop album that co-exists with R & B, Dance Hall, Trap, and Techno music. “I wanted this album to showcase my creative abilities,” Walter said. “At the same time, I’ve used this as a way to pay homage to Charleston, and its deep heritage.”
To accompany the album, Walter released a short documentary titled Days B4 Saturdaze filmed/directed by Your World on Film https://youtu.be/fhTiXwCiYrc . Days B4 Saturdaze gives fans a behind the scenes look at the making of Saturdaze.
Saturdaze is available on all major music streaming sites. For more music & information on Walter Brown, and upcoming events & preformances visit: facebook.com/walterbrownftu . For press inquiries/interviews, email Taylor Brown at ftumanagement@gmail.com
