American hard rock icons Guns N’ Roses are enjoying a sudden resurgence right now. Coming off a pair of highly publicized headlining gigs at the Coachella music festival, the band looks like they’re just getting started and are showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, GNR already announced a bunch of North American shows to add to the current list of cities in the ‘Not in This Lifetime’ tour. According to Billboard, among the added dates are stops in their hometown Los Angeles at the Dodger Stadium on August 18, as well as concerts in Chicago, New York, and Boston.
From casuals to diehards, Guns N’ Roses fans are in for a treat, especially with the classic lineup of Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan getting their second wind to embark on a cross-country tour. Joining them are new members Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese on keyboards, and Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer on rhythm guitar and drums respectively. With a long list of shows and massive publicity, everyone seems to be hopping on the GNR bandwagon once again. Truth be told, even various online gaming firms have incorporated the band’s likeness into their games. For one, Spin Genie has a video slot machine theme dedicated to Guns N’ Roses featuring members of the band, their songs, and those classic album covers. Additionally, they are likely to feature heavily on the new Guitar Hero game, which is set for release later in the year.
Guns N’ Roses are true blue legends not just in the music industry, but also pop culture in general. Nectar even claims that they “were arguably the most famous band of the 80s.” To this day, GNR has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, with almost half, counting 45 million records, in the United States alone. The band continues to sell out massive stadiums, thrill huge crowds, and rock the stage with timeless anthems that molded a generation. They may not be getting along most of the time, but GNR still manage to muster and hold on to the passion that drives them to continue doing what they love to do. With this, expect Guns N’ Roses to ride off into this newfound sunset and blaze their signature rock n’ roll sound along the way.
