Spring Break Travel Recommendations
Haven’t decided where you want to go yet for SB16? Don’t worry we have 5 worthy spots you might want to take a look at before you book those tickets. Since we are about risk-taking why not go beyond the ordinary and take the road less traveled to a destination you have not set foot on. There is so much more to see and do than just go to the Bahamas for Spring Break, the 21st Century terminology for that is “Basic”. Don’t be Basic, get Creative, and Claim the Unconquered.
Destination 1 is For Climbers: Half-Dome Yosemite National Park, California: If you are looking for a challenge as a climber, and haven’t been to Yosemite this is your new playground to master. In addition to conquering the ascent at Half-Dome you can also trek through the John Muir Trail that goes through the lush Yosemite Valley, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Park. This is definitely the place to be for the curious and outgoing nature-enthusiast.
Destination 2 is For Surfers: Punta Roca, El Salvador: Surfs Up Spicoli, we’re heading to El Salvador. Everybody hits up Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua as a surf destination, but I assure you that you don’t want to overlook El Salvador. Better get on this spot before it blows up like the above destinations mentioned. Punta Roca is a sick wave and is a one-of-a-kind right hand point break. Its time to throw on the boardies and break out of that 4:3 or 5:4 wetsuit you have been wearing all winter season long. Treat yourself to some warm water and El Salvadorian Pupusas.
Destination 3 is For BMX Riders: Ray’s Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio: Ray’s Bike Park is like no other and is certainly a premier BMX shred cave. Not only does it serve BMX riders, but it accommodates mountain biker riders as well. It is also uniquely designed too and has the most interesting types of riding scenarios. This spot should definitely be at the top of your list if you are a BMX rider.
Destination 4 is For Skaters: Bronson Canyon Ditch in Los Angeles, California: Did the movie Thrashin come to mind? Have you always dreamed of dropping in and skating a ditch in California? Bronson Canyon Ditch is located right underneath the famous Hollywood sign and sets up a great opportunity to shred West Coast Style. It is also a place where you can not only bring the hardcore skate style, but a great opportunity for surf-style skaters to get some nice slashes, slides, and lay-backs. Welcome to the ditch that will truly make your dreams as a skater come true, and why not take the time to explore LA while your at it.
Destination 5 is For Wakeboarders: Wakeboarders, if you have seen the Fox Crew rip it at Blue Lake, Florida this is the go-to destination for you during this year’s Spring Break. The “Defy” edit and the Danny Harf Project glorified this spot, but it still remains a secret to non-locals. In order to ride at this spot you are going to have to break the rules. Conveniently, located in Florida you won’t be missing any of the Spring Break action because Miami is only a couple hours away.
